College of Charleston
BAP members volunteer their time and service to the following organizations.
For additional information about volunteer dates and how to get
involved, please contact the chapter's Community Service officer.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program (VITA)
The VITA Program offers free tax help to low- to
moderate-income (generally, $39,000 and below) people who cannot
prepare their own tax returns. Certified volunteers sponsored by
various organizations receive training to help prepare basic tax
returns in communities across the country. VITA sites are generally
located at community and neighborhood centers, libraries, schools,
shopping malls, and other convenient locations. Most locations
also offer free electronic filing.

Pet
Helpers Rescue & Adoption Shelter
Volunteering at Pet Helpers is a rewarding and encouraging
experience. The animals here love the attention and time spent
with them to make their stay a happy one. Without the help
of our volunteers, we would be unable to accomplish all we do with
the animals and for the animals.

Charleston Habitat for Humanity
Charleston Habitat for Humanity is a locally run affiliate of
Habitat for Humanity International, a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian
housing organization. Habitat for Humanity works in partnership
with people in need to build decent, affordable housing. The houses
then are sold to those in need at no profit and with no interest
charged.
Volunteers provide most of the labor, and individual and corporate
donors provide money and materials to build Habitat houses. Partner
families themselves invest hundreds of hours of labor - "sweat
equity" - into building their homes and the homes of others.
Their mortgage payments go into a revolving Fund for Humanity that
is used to build more houses.
