CofC contracts with East Shore Athletic Club

message delivered by Victor Wilson, Vice-President for Student Affairs

Dear CofC Student:

Welcome back! One of the first questions asked by many when returning from the summer is “What's new on campus?” Well this one will hopefully brighten your day!

The East Shore Athletic Club will begin serving our students on August 25. With your Cougar Card, you will be able to use any of the 11 ESAC Clubs in the Charleston area and 24-hour access is included. The Wentworth Street facility (the one closest to campus) sports a full complement of Olympic free weight training equipment and dumbbells along with the requisite treadmills and other cardio machines necessary for an invigorating workout. You will also find showers and changing rooms there as well.

Please review the details below before you visit.

It is our hope that your recreational experience will be enhanced by this newest addition to the Department of Campus Recreation Services. The College of Charleston has made a strong bid and major investment over the summer to better satisfy your recreational needs. We have worked hard over the past few months to ensure that you and your fellow students would have your needs met during your exercise efforts. Thus, we hope you will enjoy this arrangement until we can find funding and secure a location for a permanent Recreational Sports facility.

Thanks again for all your patience as we worked to get this resolved and stay healthy!

Be well,
VKW

Specifics Regarding Access to the ESAC Facility

The ESAC is located at 80 Wentworth Street, next to Andolini's Pizza.
Phone: 843-266-5446. Web: www.eastshoreac.com

On your first visit to ESAC you will be expected to complete a waiver and release form and then attend a very short facility orientation. You must present your validated Cougar Card during this first visit. You will be required to register at the Wentworth Street location. If your card is not valid at the time of this visit, you must contact the Cougar Card office to get this corrected. The staff at ESAC are not able to perform any card maintenance.

After the initial visit and registration you will use your Cougar Card on subsequent visits to gain access to the facilities.

Your privileges at the ESAC facilities end immediately when your Cougar Card becomes invalid. There are any number of reasons your card will become invalid including non-payment or academic dismissal.

Our agreement with ESAC permits you to use any of the 11 ESAC facilities in the area and you have 24-hour access. No other perks are included. Parking is not permitted at the downtown location. Enrollment in the group fitness classes are not included at the downtown location. Services including those for personal training are an additional cost. You can inquire with the location management about this. Charges may not be placed on your Cougar Card.

You will be expected to abide by the rules of the establishment.

The facility is staffed during these hours:
Monday-Thursday 9 a.m. - 7 p.m.
Friday 9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Saturday 11 a.m. - 4 p.m.
