Introduction
Belly dance is a beautiful and ancient form of Middle
Eastern dance. The club, which began in 2000, teaches belly dance along
with fusions of Indian dances, such as Bollywood style and Bhangara, the
Punjabi folk dance.
Many club members choose to perform with the Adasi Dance Company which is
a belly dance troupe made up of CofC Belly Dance Club members. Performances
have been given on-campus, in the local area, and along the East Coast.
Among the numerous benefits associated with participation are postural improvements, relaxation, stress release, and even a boost to self-esteem.
