College of Charleston
Tae Kwon Do Club
Introduction
Tae Kwon Do is a Korean style of martial arts. It is a hard style meaning that each action is performed with a great deal of power and effort. Unlike other soft styles, such as Tai Chi, we will have the objective of meeting force with force.
As members of the World Tae Kwon Do Association, we practice a form of non-contact Tae Kwon Do. This means that during sparring, we will attack as though we are truly going to hit an opponent, but we must stop the attack before that happens. A great degree of control is required and this can be gained through consistent practice and dedication. Aside from learning three-step and forms, each student of Tae Kwon Do should expect improvements in discipline and self control.
Membership
Membership in this club is open to all current
CofC students. Our students can expect to train in a friendly atmosphere where encouragement from other group members aid in the development of their fellow students.
