Description:                            This program furthers the Office on Violence Against Women (OVW) mission by supporting projects designed to address and prevent domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking in rural jurisdictions.  The primary purpose of the Rural Program is to enhance the safety of child, youth and adult victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking by supporting projects uniquely designed to address and prevent these crimes in rural jurisdictions.  OVW welcomes applications that propose innovative solutions for achieving this goal.  The Rural Program challenges victim advocates, law enforcement officers, pre-trial service personnel, prosecutors, judges and other court personnel, probation and parole officers, and faith and/or community based leaders to collaborate to overcome the problem of  domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault and stalking and to ensure that victim safety is paramount in services to victims and their children.

Description:                            All applicants for the Supervised Visitation Program must: demonstrate expertise in the area of family violence, including the areas of domestic or sexual assault, as appropriate; ensure that any fees charged to individuals for use of programs and services are based on the income of those individuals, unless otherwise provided by court order; demonstrate that adequate security measures, including adequate facilities, procedures, and personnel capable of preventing violence, are in place for the operation of supervised visitation programs services or safe visitation exchange; and prescribe standards by which supervised visitation or safe exchange will occur.  By statute, grant funds may only be used to support project activities that increase options for supervised visitation and safe exchange.  Therefore, grant funds may not be used to support supervised visitation and monitored exchanges of children in foster care, kinship care, or protective supervision.

Description:                            The OVW Transitional Housing Assistance Grants for Victims of Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Stalking, or Sexual Assault Program (Transitional Housing Assistance Program) focuses on a holistic, victim-centered approach to provide transitional housing services that move individuals into permanent housing.  Grants made under this grant program support programs that provide assistance to victims of domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, and stalking who are in need of transitional housing, short-term housing assistance, and related support services.  It is critical that successful transitional housing program provide a wide range of flexible and optional services that reflect the differences and individual needs of victims and that allow victims to choose the course of action that is best for them.  Transitional housing programs may offer individualized services such as licensed child care, employment services, transportation vouchers, telephones, and referrals to other agencies.  Trained staff and case managers may also be available to work with clients to help them determine and reach their goals.

Description:                            This solicitation announces the availability of funds for the new Drug Free Communities Support Program (DFC) grants.  DFC is a collaborative initiative sponsored by Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP) in partnership with SAMHSA in order to achieve two major goals:  1) Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, private nonprofit agencies, and Federal, State, local and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth.  2) Reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.  Substances include, but are not limited to, narcotics, depressants, stimulants, hallucinogens, cannabis, inhalants, alcohol, and tobacco, where their use is prohibited by Federal, State, or local law.  Note:  DFC projects must focus on multiple drugs of abuse.

The Department of Defense (DoD), through the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP), will be funding environmental research and development in its core thrust area of Sustainable Infrastructure. The objective of this effort it to identify, develop, and transition environmental technologies that relate directly to defense mission accomplishment through tools and techniques that will permit the DoD to manage lands in a sustainable manner for natural resources (e.g. ecosystem management, land management, maritime sustainability), cultural resources, and the built infrastructure (e.g. air/water quality, solid waste, noise). This also encompasses the technologies required to sustain deployed forces. Invasive Species has the potential to reach parties interested in this funding opportunity.
All SEED proposals are due Mar 6, 2008. For the Core solicitation, pre-proposals from the non-federal sector are due Jan 8, 2008, and federal proposals are due Mar 6, 2008.

  • Protected Species Cooperative Conservation
    Under section 6 of the Endangered Species Act, States may receive grants to support the development of conservation programs for threatened, endangered, candidate, and recently de-listed species. Grants may support development and implementation of management plans, research and monitoring efforts, and education and outreach activities.
  • Prescott Marine Mammal Rescue Assistance Grant Program
    In 2000, Congress established the Prescott Marine Mammal Rescue Assistance Program. It was named after John H. Prescott, a world-renowned marine mammal expert and conservationist. Eligible stranding network members can receive upwards of $100,000 in annual funding. In addition, a portion of the Prescott fund is set aside at the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation for emergency assistance during catastrophic stranding events.
  • Proactive Species Conservation Program
    NMFS has initiated a grant program to support proactive conservation efforts designed to conserve marine and anadromous species before listing under the Endangered Species Act (ESA) becomes necessary.

Description
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is soliciting grant
proposals from eligible entities to reduce incidences of childhood lead
poisoning in low-income communities with older housing. Potential
activities include outreach, training, ordinance development, and other
activities that would result in reduction of childhood lead poisoning.
This grant will support the partnership of national organizations with
community-based organizations and local governments to improve the
environmental health of a community regarding lead poisoning prevention.
EPA is awarding grants that will provide approximately $2 million to
interested entities. It is anticipated that approximately 6-8 awards
will be made. The number of grants EPA will fund as a result of this
announcement will be based on the quality of proposals received and the
availability of funding.
