Cuba Summer Program |

ELIGIBILITY If you are not
currently enrolled in the College
of Charleston or eligible to enroll for Spring 2005 classes, you must
first
apply for admission through the Registrar's Office, (843) 953-5668. All
visiting students must also first go through the
Registrar's
Office.
HEALTH INSURANCE - INTERNATIONAL TRAVEL An International Student Identification card will be required for international travel. The card provides a catastrophic health benefit. The International Student ID card is obtained through the International Education & Programs Office located in the Multcultural Center. You will need to submitt a passport sized photo. In addition, the student must check with his/her own health insurer regarding normal coverage while traveling abroad, since many policies do not cover international travel. TUITION TUITION IS SEPARATE FROM THE COST OF THE TRIP. Tuition must be paid in the Treasurer's Office (it will NOT be accepted in the Office of International Education and Programs). For students with In-State residency status, tuition is $564 for three credit hours and $1128 for six credit hours. For students with Out-of-State residency status, tuition is $1281 for three credit hours and $2562 for six credit hours. All questions concerning residency status are handled by Business Affairs (843) 953-5574. |
****TRAVEL TO CUBA**** Accepted applicants are sponsored by the College of Charleston and will come under its license granted by the United States Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control. This program and all educational and academic activities have been granted a license by OFAC. Visas to enter Cuba will be required and will be obtained when the final group is determined. Fees for visas are not included in the Program costs or Tuition and may reach as high as $75.00. PASSPORTS The student is responsible for obtaining his or her own passport. Passport applications are available in the Office of International Education and Programs. TRIP CANCELLATION AND REFUND POLICY IN NO CASE CAN ANY FUNDS ALREADY PAID OUT ON BEHALF OF THE STUDENT BE REFUNDED. This includes airline tickets, hotel deposits, event tickets, etc, as well as the portion of common/shared expenses such as van rental, etc. A student may receive a refund of that portion of deposits and payments (EXCLUDING the application fee) not already paid out provided: 1) The applicant gives notice 60 days prior to departure and 2) the instructor (Program Director) and the Director of International Education and Programs give their approval. All deposits, payments and fees (including application fees) will be refunded in full should the College find it necessary to cancel a trip. The same policy applies should a student not be accepted into the program. Tuition refunds, as opposed to trip expenses, are handled by the Treasurer's Office. |

APPLICATION PROCEDURES APPLICATION FORM - Completely fill out the application form and electronically submit. Be sure to choose the courses you want to be registered in - there is a 6cr. minimum NOTARIZATION - Have the Travel Program Agreement and Release form NOTARIZED and returned to the Office of International Education an Programs. For your convenience Notary Public services are available at no charge in the office of Intenational Education and Programs. PAY TRIP DEPOSIT AND TURN IN APPLICATION FORM - Trip deposits and application forms are to be turned into Jennifer White, Summer Study Abroad Coordinator, in the Office of International Education and Programs currently located in the Bell Building Room 303. You will be registered in your chosen courses at that time provided all items are completed. Applications Must be Accompanied by a check in the amount of $550.00 This amount includes a $50.00 non-refundable Application Fee. The remaining $500.00 will be applied to the cost of the trip. Checks are to be made payable to The College of Charleston. Note: Full payment for the trip may also be made at this time if the student so chooses. Please note that the final cost of the trip may be subject to change. |
