Background:
Gao Bei (Modern history of East Asia and China) is Assistant Professor of History who received her Ph.D. from
the University of Virginia in 2007. Her dissertation entitled China, Japan, and the Flight of European Jewish Refugees to Shanghai, 1938-1945 is the first major study to examine the Chinese government's policy toward the Shanghai Jewish refugee issue. Dr. Gao was awarded the Charles H. Revson Fellowship at the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum's Center for Advance Holocaust Studies.
