WHAT'S GOING ON WITH OUR

GRADUATE STUDENTS

Travis Ferrell

Travis Ferrell will be spending the next school year at the University of Versailles near Paris as the winner of an exchange fellowship. He will conduct a language practicum class for students learning English as well as help them work on basic writing skills. While at the university, he will also work on his thesis hours.

Teresa Hooper

Teresa Hooper recently presented a paper, “’An Interstellar Boat-ride Into the Heart of Brightness’: C.S. Lewis’s Inversion of Conrad in the Space Trilogy,” at the meeting of the Philological Association of the Carolinas.

Teresa advises all grad students to attend at least one conference during their grad experience. She said that PAC was particularly nice because it is such a small and friendly conference, is local, and is inexpensive to attend. While she was asked questions following her presentation, they were all friendly, she stressed, and useful for discussion. She was also impressed at the amount of job networking that goes on at conferences.

Teresa is now trying to publish her paper.
