Association News:
Social Gathering
On Friday, November 12th, Maureen and Nick Bennis opened their home
to the Association for a potluck and poetry reading. If you missed this
first social event, keep your eyes open for subsequent ones. The fourteen
or so attendees had a great time! Food was fabulous, wine plentiful,
and desserts astounding. The poetry was a treat as well, since most
participants chose obscure favorites or shared personal originals. Be
sure to watch for the future Trivial Pursuit Booklovers Edition
Tournament to be played in teams.
Library Tour
On Monday, November 22nd, Mr. Phillip Powell graciously took three grad
students on a tour of the new library. We were awed. Not only is the
size of the facility overwhelming, but its design is a delight. It promises
plenty of light, cozy corners for reading, efficient rooms for copying,
carrels with laptop hook-ups, its own coffee shop, and even an outdoor
patio and garden.
Business Meeting
In order to qualify for funding through the college SGA, the Association
must rewrite its constitution and reapply for club status with the College
Activities Board (CAB). A meeting was held on Monday, November 22nd
at 6:00 pm in the Hungry Cougar following the library tour at which
we discussed the new constitution. Four members attended. Drafts will
be drawn up and sent to all members for commentary when Spring semester
begins.
