The Physics & Astronomy Department Jon Hakkila, Chair. We offer the following programs: B.S. in astrophysics, B.S./B.A. in physics, B.A. in astronomy, and B.S./B.A. in physics with a meteorology concentration. Courses and undergraduate research opportunities are available for you in areas such as applied physics, astrophysics, atmospheric physics, biophysics, and computational physics. You can also do a physics cognate in the Discovery Informatics major. The College has a large undergraduate physics program (AIP July 2005 Enrollments and Degrees Report) with women comprising more than 35% of our graduates, compared to the national average of 22%.

Research Opportunities There are student research opportunities within the department as well as academic year and summer research appointments elsewhere. Our annual Research Poster Session showcases research activities throughout the school.
