Medical Physicists are basic scientists who apply their knowledge of physics to solve problems in the world of medicine. The route to becoming a medical physicist will be described, and the roles played by these individuals in Radiation Therapy and Diagnostic Imaging will be outlined. A practical application in the field of Computed Tomography (CT) imaging will be described in some detail. In CT scanning, one important goal is to get the best possible image quality at the lowest radiation dose (risk) to the patient being scanned. Current methods for quantify image quality as well as the corresponding patient radiation risk will be presented.

All interested persons are cordially invited to attend. Refreshments will be provided.
