The College of Charleston strives to make community service an integral part of students' education through both

Service experiences are intended to be reciprocally beneficial to both the community and the students.

The goal of service-learning is to improve the quality of life of the entire community through

• partnerships,
• creating mutual understanding,
• making learning come alive, and
• preparing students for lifelong civic engagement.

Service-Learning and the Community Service Center work to link students, faculty and staff with community needs. They are the campus resource for

• posting volunteer needs,
• coordinating service events, and
• facilitating community partnerships.
