Junior Jillian Irizarry makes me feel lazy!  She volunteers for multiple organizations, is the Student Government Association (SGA) vice president, is a sister in the Kappa Delta sorority, and is a full-time College of Charleston student.

Jillian donates her time each semester to the From Darkness to Light organization, a sexual abuse awareness program.  She has also volunteered for Habitat for Humanity and the Girl Scouts of America.  She has also worked with the Medical University of South Carolina on holiday toy drives.

She is one of the smartest, nicest and most helpful girls I have ever met at the College of Charleston.  She let me borrow notes and helped me study for a final exam.  Thanks Jillian for having The Volunteer Spirit!

Community Service (present and past):  I help out From Darkness to Light in association with my sorority, Kappa Delta.  I am also helping out the Medical University of South Carolina with its upcoming toy drive.  This is in affiliation with the college's Student Government Association.  I am SGA's vice president.  In the past, I have voluteered to help the Girl Scouts and have done work with Habitat for Humanity.
Favorite part of doing community service:  My favorite part is helping others and giving back to the community.  Community service gives me the opportunity to reach out to the community.  It is also a great opportunity to work with and meet people who are interested in similar activities.
Most memorable volunteer experience:   I really enjoyed last year's From Darkness to Light benefit/gala at Marion Square park.  It was great to see local restaurants, members of the community, and students join together to help this small organization raise money.
How would your friends and co-workers describe you?   I think they would say that I am energetic, nice, willing to help others, a good friend and a hard worker.
What would you tell someone who was thinking of volunteering?  It is a great way to give back to the community and is very rewarding.  It is also a great way to meet people with similar interests.
