Dr. John E. Clarkin has a B.S. in Business Administration from the University of Wisconsin. He has an M.B.A. from the Citadel and a Ph.D. in Entrepreneurship from the University of Stirling.

His research interests include: Entrepreneurship; Small Business Management; Franchising; New Venture Creation; and Technology Commercialization.

Here at the College of Charleston, Dr. Clarkin teaches courses in: New Venture Creation; Small Business Management; Management and Organizational Behavior; Freshman Seminar in Entrepreneurial Leadership; and Seminar in Entrepreneurship.

Jessica Solomon Bluestein joined the Tate Center for Entrepreneurship in March 2008 to: 1) inform entrepreneurs and businesses about the Tate Center’s entrepreneurial opportunities through education, innovation, research and advocacy, 2) develop and manage professional development programming for entrepreneurs such as the Franchise Certification program and Family Enterprise forum, 3) oversee visiting entrepreneurs and Entrepreneur in Residence programs, 4) act as a liaison for the Tate Center with entrepreneurial organizations and associations to work collaboratively towards economic opportunity and expansion in the Lowcountry, 5) network with diverse business communities nationally and internationally to build economic and educational bridges between innovators, entrepreneurs and students. 

Jessica graduated from Emerson College with a B.S. in Management Communication and Public Relations with a Minor in Visual Studies and the Arts, enhanced by the entrepreneurial skills inherited from her great grandfathers who launched Charleston businesses in the 1800’s. Formerly Creative Director of BluMuse Productions, Communications Director for the Esalen Institute and Special Projects Coordinator for the Cultural Council for Monterey County, she has ten years of event experience and six years of Public Relations and marketing experience for events, organizations and special projects.

Cantrece White, Admin/Prgm Services Coordinator

Cantrece White, originally from Buffalo, NY has been with the College of Charleston since 2000 and is the Coordinator of Administrative Services for the Tate Center. As part of her responsibilities, Cantrece assists with program establishment and modification. She arranges and coordinates Tate Center events and programs. These programs include but are not limited to: South Carolina Economic Development School (SCEDS), Charleston Angel Partners (CHAP), Entrepreneurial Woman Series, Fast Trac, Accounting Continuing Professional Education Network (ACPEN) and more...

Before coming to the College of Charleston, Cantrece served 11 years in the United States Air Force in Personnel Management. She has an A.A. in Personnel Administration from the Community College of the Air Force and a B.S. in Workforce Education and Development from Southern Illinois University.
