Our mission: To program events that are of interest to a broad range of students and work with other organizations on campus to help ensure that their events affect the largest number of students possible with the highest quality.
Our history: The Cougar Activities Board was created in the spring of 1980, after CofC students voted on a SGA constitutional amendment to create a parallel organization focused on providing high quality entertainment for the entire campus. Previously, the "entertainment committee" of SGA handled the programming for the campus, but as the college grew, so did the need to develop a board whose primary focus was programming. After branching off, the "entertainment committee" became known as the College Union Board. Years later, CUB underwent its first name change and became the College Activities Board. Over the years, the College Activities Board brought great talent to campus, such as The Indigo Girls and They Might Be Giants. During the early 2000's, CAB changed its name again to Cougar Productions, and again in 2005 to Cougar Activities Board, which it is to this day. Recently, The Cougar Activities Board has helped bring Cornell West, Angela Davis, the Ying Yang Twins, Jim Breuer, and TWISTA, and many up and coming stars to campus.
Keep an eye out for who we will bring next year......
How to Co-Sponsor with the Cougar Activities Board:
Co-sponsoring with CAB is an exclusive opportunity available for all sanctioned and registered organizations on campus to make sure that their events reach the largest number of students possible with the highest of quality. CAB extends this opportunity to organizations who would like to hold substantial events, but need monetary assistance, help with publicity, or help planning and implementing events. Co-sponsorship is also available for organizations who want to be associated with a particular CAB event. In order to apply for co-sponsorship, the organization needs to send a representative to a CAB executive board meeting to propose the co-sponsorship. The board meets every Tuesday at 4:30pm in room 409 of the Stern Student Center. To schedule a meeting please contact Lisa Buckley, at lbuckley1011@gmail.com. If the proposal is approved a formal contract will then be completed.
