Student Organizations
English Club
An official College of Charleston student organization, the English Club is open to all English majors and minors and other interested parties. The club sponsors student readings, organizes career days and graduate school days for English majors, helps plan activities such as the senior symposium, publishes the English major newsletter, and has organized a trip to the Thomas Wolfe house in Asheville, North Carolina, among other activities.
The club serves as a social organization, a way for English majors to meet one another. The English Club faculty advisor is J. Michael Duvall.
English Major Newsletter
The Glebe Street Hacks, the English Department newsletter, is generally published once a semester and contains information that all English majors need to know. To submit information to the newsletter, please e-mail J. Michael Duvall.
Sigma Tau Delta Honor Society
Sigma Tau Delta is an international English honor society whose purposes are to confer distinction for high achievement in the creation and study of literature, to promote interest in literature and the English language, and to foster the discipline of English in all its aspects, including creative and critical work. The chapter of Sigma Tau Delta at the College of Charleston is Alpha Epsilon Phi. For more information about Sigma Tau Delta, please contact Terry Bowers.
Songwriter's Club
The College of Charleston Songwriter's Club is for student songwriters. The club helps sponsor the Songwriter's Series at the College of Charleston. For more information, contact Paul Allen.
