Profile
Dr. Eichelberger received her Ph.D. in English from the University of North Carolina and began teaching at the College in 1992. After publishing a book in 1999 on four American novelists, she has focused much of her recent scholarship on one of these writers, Eudora Welty. During her upcoming sabbatical she will continue her exploration of Welty’s development as a Southern woman writer. Dr. Eichelberger teaches a variety of American literature courses as well as freshman composition. She is currently chairing the Ad Hoc Committee on General Education, which is reviewing and proposing modifications to the College’s undergraduate core curriculum.
