Since the spring we have made small but significant progress towards our "Phase I"  goal of providing a unified database of North American freshwater snail distribution.  In late April I recruited Dr. George Pothering (CofC Computer Science Dept) to our project, and he agreed to begin patching together a bunch of disparate databases provided by various museums and other organizations as a "proof of concept."

In May I solicited 14 museums for example databases, and to date have received 9.  If you received a request for data from me last month, and have yet to respond, consider this a gentle reminder.  If anybody else on this list has a database on freshwater snail distribution that you wouldn't mind sharing, I'd be pleased to receive it as an attached file at your convenience.

George has been working diligently, and has at this point been able to incorporate (almost) everything we've been sent.  We do hope to have something to show you on the web before too long.
