Dr. Hunt joined the English Department in 1976 as Assistant Professor. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 1979 and Professor in 1988. Her teaching emphasis has been Freshman Composition.

For the Fall 2005 and Spring 2006 semesters, Dr. Hunt's schedule of classes ranges from freshman to graduate courses: Composition & Literature, John Milton (both undergraduate and graduate courses), Science Fiction and Literature for Adolescents.

She earned Bachelor of Arts degrees from Radcliffe and St. Anne’s College, Oxford, and a Ph.D. from Harvard University.

Before coming to the College of Charleston, Dr. Hunt was a Lecturer at Clark University, Assistant Professor at Beaver College (now Arcadia University) and Associate Dean at Radcliffe College.
