ScienceDirect database

This database includes full text journal articles from over 500 scientific and technical journals published by Elsevier and its subsidiaries. Covering 16 fields, the database contains exact images of the texts, tables and images found in print journals.  The database platform provides users with a search engine, intuitive navigation and the ability to profile personal research interests and receive copies of new journal articles as they are published.

This database nearly doubles the number of science journal titles available in our library for faculty and students. Many of these journals are quite expensive and normally found only at research universities.  We estimate that new subscriptions to these journals would cost the library over
$300,000 but because we were able to work with USC, Clemson and MUSC to negotiate a statewide contract we have obtained them for a very small fraction of that cost.

You can access Science Direct from the E-Journals or Databases links on the Library Web page or go directly to

JSTOR Ecology and Botanical Sciences

Nearly 1,500 journal years of academic literature in Ecology and Botanical Sciences has been added to the College library's digital JSTOR archive this January.  The new collection in Botany and Ecology offers full text access to 29 scholarly  journals in these fields.  JSTOR created the collection in cooperation with the Ecological Society of America (ESA).  The collection, totally approximately one million pages, contains some of the most well established journals published in the environmental sciences including American Naturalist and International Journal of Plant Sciences that extend back to the nineteenth century.  Newer journals disseminating key research findings, such as Conservation Biology and Journal of Tropical Ecology, are also included.  The Ecological Society of America was one of the earliest participating publishers in JSTOR, and three ESA journals, Ecology, Ecological Applications, and Ecological Monographs, are also included in JSTOR's original cluster of 117 journal titles.
You can access this collection of journals from the E-Journals or Databases links on the Library Web page or go directly to
