Description of Services |
|
Partners for Acceleration provides two levels of service. The first level provides data and data analysis that provides a baseline snapshot of your school in terms of student achievement, environments and systems, processes, and teaching strategies. These data contextualize the student achievement data collected by the district and state. Based on the findings and recommendations in the Level 1 report, your school determines if you would benefit from continued involvement with PFA. If so, Level 2 services will be tailored to your needs.
Level 1: Preliminary Data Collection, Analysis, and Reporting
o Student data on achievement (using existing MAP, PASS data), accomplishment, belonging, and engagement (collected through student surveys, teacher report) o School and classroom environment data (collected through student, teacher, non-classroom educator, parent surveys) o Classroom practice (collected through classroom observation in a sample of classrooms) o Systems and processes (collected through interviews)
o Comparative analysis of achievement, environments, and systems/processes
o Data presentation o Analysis of findings o Recommendations
Level 2: Targeted Assistance Strategies and support provided by PFA o Professional development opportunities o On-site implementation support o Cross-school networking o Additional data collection and evaluation
o Joint action planning o Collaborative governance o Joint decision-making o Aligning partners and resources for common goals
Determining Your Level of Service
Some schools choose to limit service only to Level 1. This provides them with considerable information that complements the data typically provided by states and districts. Schools may choose to use the data to make decisions on their own.
Most schools choose to contract for both Level 1 and 2 services. They gain the benefits of the Level 1 data and report and also receive targeted assistance focused on improving school and/or classroom environments, incorporating more accelerated learning strategies in classrooms, and/or creating more effective systems and processes. Typically, schools contract for regular on-site support, professional development days, and professional development courses (offered through the College of Charleston’s office of Professional Development in Teaching). They also participate in regularly scheduled teacher network activities.
Cost
Level 1 and Level 2 services are priced separately. Please contact Partners for Acceleration for more information on costs. For information contact Dr. Christine Finnan at 843-953-4826 or finnanc@cofc.edu |
