The Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award honors those faculty members who have been selected by their peers as recipients of the Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award. The recipients' exemplary scholarship and exemplary teaching have enriched the intellectual lives of our students throughout the career of the recipient.

The Teacher/Scholar award honors colleagues who exemplify the teacher-scholar model. Letters should describe fully the reasons why the nominator considers the individual to be outstanding among other excellent teacher-scholars and give specific examples and documentation whenever possible. Nominations should be seconded by another faculty member who may co-author the nomination letter or write a separate letter. Additional materials will be requested directly from the nominees. Letters of nomination should briefly describe the nominee’s scholarly work and its significance. You should discuss the significance of the nominee’s research, but you do not need to provide documentation because such additional materials will be requested directly from the nominee. The selection of the recipient will be made from recommendations by the Faculty Research & Development Committee. The evaluation will be based on the nominee’s scholarly and/or creative works within the past few years, i.e. recent books, articles, papers, presentations, paintings and/or other artistic productions. Such scholarly/creative works will be judged for their quality and significance as well as for their quantity.
