Douglas Friedman received his B.A. from Richmond College, City University of New York and his M.Phil and Ph.D. from the City University of New York Graduate School. Since 1983 Dr. Douglass has been a member of the Department of Political Science at the College of Charleston, where he also serves as the Director of Latin American and Caribbean Studies. Dr. Friedman has traveled extensively in Latin America and is the author of The State and Underdevelopment in Spanish America: The Political Roots of Dependency in Peru and Argentina. He directs the Summer and Semester in Cuba Programs since 2000, supervises students participating in Model Organization of American States, and is co-Coordinator of the Washington D.C. Model OAS. His research interests include comparative politics in Latin America, economic and political development, and revolution.
