George E. Haborak

Dr. Haborak joined the faculty of the College of Charleston in 1971 as Associate Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Department Chairman. He was promoted to Professor in 1976.
Dr. Haborak has also served the college in administrative positions: as Assistant Dean of the College and Acting Dean of the College 1971 – 1975; and as Senior Vice President for Student Affairs in 1979. He has initiated a number of programs designed to enhance the college experience for students. His areas of emphasis have included health care, alcohol awareness, Greek life, crisis assistance, leadership and the honor board. His pioneering efforts also established the college Skills Lab, summer orientation and the freshman seminar.
Dr. Haborak received his A.B. in Classical Languages and Philosophy and his M.A. in Philosophy from Boston College. He earned an M.A. in Mathematics from Wayne State University and a Ph.D. in Mathematics from Catholic University of America.
Before coming to the College of Charleston, Dr. Haborak was an Assistant Professor at the U.S. Naval Academy.
