1996 Distinguished Teaching Award

Dr. Hall taught Physics and Astronomy at the College of Charleston from 1975 until his retirement in 2002. Hired as Assistant Professor, he was promoted to Associate Professor in 1978. He was the recipient of the Mebane Teaching Chair for four consecutive years, beginning with the 1998-99 school year. His nomination for this honor was based on his commitment and dedication to students and his eagerness to share his teaching wisdom with his colleagues. He was a favorite among his students, known for infusing humor into his presentation of scientific material. During his tenure, he also served as Chair of the Physics and Astronomy Department.
Dr. Hall earned his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Carnegie Mellon University. He received his Ph.D. at Washington University.
He spent two years as Assistant Professor of Physics at Oklahoma State University before joining the faculty at the College of Charleston.
