Lee Irwin received his Ph.D. from Indiana University. His field of specialization is Native American Religions, Western Esotericism & Comparative Spirituality, and Theory & Method in Religion. In pursuit of his interest in religion, spirituality, and comparative phenomenology of religious experience, Dr. Irwin has studied the world religions with a strong emphasis on the religious experience, such as visions and dreams. His most recent research and teaching has been in the area of Western Esotericism and contemporary Gnostic and Hermetic spirituality. He is author of several publications, including two books, American Spirituality: A Critical Reader (University of Nebraska Press 2000) and Gnostic Tarot: Mandalas for Spiritual Transformation (U.S. Games System, 2005). He has also been published in the Journal of Consciousness, Conscience, and Culture, Esoterica, and A Companion to Native American History.
