Jorge Marban

2000 Distinguished Research Award


Jorge Marban received his B.A. in Humanities from Instituto de la Vibora in Havana, Cuba, his M.A. in Spanish American Literature from Trinity College, and his Ph.D. in 20th Century Spanish Literature from Emory University. Before teaching at the College of Charleston, he taught at Converse College, Oglethorpe College, Quinnipiac College, and Emory University. In 1976 he joined the College of Charleston, where he taught upper level Spanish classes, as well as some introductory level Italian classes. He has been published extensively, including articles in: International Fiction Review, Hispania, Encyclopedia of Latin American Literature, and Dictionary of Literary Biography 13, only to name a few. He taught at the College for over 25 years.
