Robert J. Mignone

2006 Distinguished Service Award


Dr. Robert Mignone joined the College of Charleston faculty in 1981 as Assistant Professor of Mathematics. He was promoted to Associate Professor in 1987 and to Professor in 1994. He served the College as Speaker of the Faculty from 1995 to 2006 and is currently serving as department chair.

Dr. Mignone currently teaches Introduction to Calculus and Elementary Statistics courses. His research interests include set theory and descriptive set theory and mathematical logic.

Dr. Mignone received his BA degree in Mathematics from Temple University and his PhD in Mathematics from The Pennsylvania State University.

Before joining the College of Charleston faculty, Dr. Mignone was Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Dallas 1979-1981. His academic career was preceded by employment as an engineer for Litton Industries and The Boeing Company.

In addition to the 2006 Distinguished Service Award, Dr. Mignone was the 1999 recipient of the School of Sciences and Mathematics Distinguished Achievement Award.
