Since its founding, the College of Charleston's purpose
has been to offer a first rate liberal arts education.
This was as true for the students learning Latin and Greek in the
18th century as it is for those majoring in biochemistry, business administartion,
or urban studies today.
As the concerns of society have changed, so have the
College's course offerings. But the educational standards that have existed at the
College of Charleston for more than 200 years - a challenging, individualized, liberal
arts curriculum - remain the same.
