Freshman Student Profile Transfer Student Requirements
The College of Charleston admissions committee relies on several factors when making freshmen admission decisions.
Below are listed our average student profile for our primary admission factors:
  1. 3.3-3.7 GPA (Strong B+ average on an unweighted 4.0 scale)
  2. 1100-1240 SAT range for instate students
  3. 1160-1280 SAT range for out of state students
  4. 22-26 ACT range for instate students
  5. 24-28 ACT range for out of state students
  6. Class rank in the top 20%
  7. Strong high school curriculum (above our required curriculum)
Our secondary admission factors include:
  • Admissions essay
  • Leadership skills
  • Letters of recommendation (not required)
  • Extracurricular activities

Please see the Entering Freshman page for more information.

Minimum transfer applicant requirements for at least thirty hours of college-level coursework are:

  • 2.6 cumulative GPA for South Carolina residents
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA for out-of-state residents.
If you have earned less than 30 (45 quarter) semester hours at the time you submit your application you must also submit a secondary school transcript and the Scholastic Assessment Test (SAT) or American College Test (ACT) results and must also meet freshman admission standards.

Transfer applications are reviewed on a rolling admissions cycle. When we reach maximum enrollment for new students, applications may be returned with suggestions that the student apply for a future semester. We may hold a student's application until completion of current coursework to make an admission decision. These students are not guaranteed admission and a decision will only be rendered when final transcripts are received. All applicants must be qualified to return to the college last attended.

Please see the Transfer Students page for more information.
