High school students of superior ability are invited to take college-level courses during their senior (and some cases, junior) year of high school. The college offers many introductory and upper-level courses appropriate
for high school students in the afternoon and evening during
the fall and spring semesters.

Concurrent students are required to submit a non-degree application, a transcript of grades and a written recommendation from their high school guidance counselor or principal. Concurrent students are accepted and enrolled in courses with the approval of the academic department and on a space available basis until classes commence. Since these courses carry full college credit, students are subject to the academic regulations of the College of Charleston.

Most introductory courses offered by the College are available for local high school students to take in the fall , spring and summer semesters. Popular courses that high school students take include English Composition, Introduction to Computers, Public Speaking, American Government, Introduction to Sociology, Introduction to Psychology, math and foreign language. A placement test is required to determine which level of math or foreign language a student is qualified to take.

When can I register?
Concurrent students may register during the non-degree registration period prior to the semester they wish to enroll. Contact the Office of Admissions and Adult Student Services for dates and times. You will have the opportunity to acquire a College of Charleston Cougar Card at the time of registration. The Cougar Card serves as the College's official identification card

Please contact the Office of the Registrar for information about enrolling in Maymester or Summer Session courses.
