The College of Charleston accepts International students for both Fall and Spring semesters.

To be considered for admissions International students must provide the following:

  • Completed paper admissions application with a $45 process fee or completed online application with a $35 fee.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the English language through satisfactory results on either the TOEFL, IELTS, SAT or ACT. The minimum requirement for the computer-based TOEFL is 213 and for the paper-based TOEFL is 550. The minimum requirement for the internet-based TOEFL is 80. Please note that a score below 20 on an individual component of the exam may cause an applicant to be ineligible for admission. The minimum requirement for the IELTS is a 6.5 overall band score in the Academic Format. CofC does not accept the IELTS for General Training.
  • All high school and/or college transcripts from International Institutions, which must be sent to a Credential Evaluation Agency for a course by course evaluation. Students should also provide individual course descriptions translated into English for College of Charleston faculty review.
  • Certificate of Finances: certified bank statement indicating sufficient funds (in US dollars) adequate to meet your educational expenses at the College of Charleston. Minimum balance needed is $28,226.00 (US).

* Scholarship funding is limited at the College of Charleston and, therefore, international students are not considered for scholarships
