Transfer students should

  • meet minimum requirements for acceptance
  • file complete applications by posted deadlines
  • have official transcripts from all previous colleges/universities sent to College of Charleston

The following are good suggestions for your students who plan to transfer to College of Charleston:

Investigate

  • Check out degree offerings and requirements. Use the internet to visit the web site.
  • If undecided about your major area of study, select a school that offers a wide range of majors.
  • Visit the school and check out the facilities and academic programs first-hand. Make certain that the school is a match for your expectations and your academic goals.
  • Find out what careers and graduate programs require specific majors and which are flexible.

Connect

  • Connect with current academic advisors and inform them of your plan to earn a four-year degree. They can then assist you in course selection.
  • Connect with admissions and academic advisors at your intended four-year school to find out about admissions requirements and which courses transfer from your current school.
  • Look into academic and student support services.
  • Make connections with faculty in your intended major area of study for input on creating a workable plan of academic progress toward your degree.

Plan

  • Your strategies for balancing work and school and other responsibilities you might have.
  • Your financial strategies to pay for your education. Check out what financial aid is available to you as a transfer student.
  • Your steps toward your degree completion based on what courses are required and when they are offered to maximize your academic experience.
  • Consider some "what if" roadblock scenarios and how you might avoid or overcome them. Get psyched up for success!
