College of Charleston prefers that applicants apply online. You may complete, save and print the online application before it is submitted. Online applications are processed more quickly and accurately and the fee is $10 less.

Application Requirements

Freshman:
- Application and Essay - The College of Charleston’s deadline for our early action admissions phase is November 1. Early Action applicants will receive a decision on or before mid December. Decisions made during the Early Action phase will focus on a student’s academic achievement, course curriculum and SAT I or ACT scores. The application essay is required during both the Early Action and regular admission phases.
- Transcripts from each high school/college you have attended
- SAT/ACT scores
- Secondary School Report
- Letters of Recommendation are not required (see below) - If you are applying to the Honors College you may use your Honors essay as your Admissions essay.

Transfer, Second Degree, and Readmit Students:
- Application
- Transcripts from each college/university you have attended
- Letter describing your professional and educational activities since last attending the College of Charleston (readmits only)
- Students with less than 30 earned hours at the time of application must send high school transcripts and SAT/ACT scores

International:
- Application and Essay
- Transcripts from each high school/college you have attended
- SAT/ACT or TOEFL scores
- Certification of Finances

Non-Degree Seeking: (Students not currently seeking a degree from the College of Charleston)
- Visiting Students: Documentation from current college/university and transcript for pre-requisite verification
- Concurrent High School Students: Letter of recommendation from High School Administration and current High School Transcript
- Adult Students: Applicants 21 and older seeking to build or resume a collegiate academic record or college graduates taking coursework for professional development and graduate programs not currently seeking an undergraduate degree
- SC Senior Citizens: Applicants who want to enroll under this program must demonstrate proof of age and meet some specific course requirements to enroll.

- Letters of Recommendation (except for concurrent high school students) are not required (see below)

Application Deadlines

   

Freshmen:
We accept applications for the fall and spring semesters. The deadline for fall is April 1. The deadline for spring is December 1.

For fall enrollment, students will be considered for our non-binding, Early Action period if they submit completed applications on or before November 1. Decisions for Early Action candidates are mailed mid-December. Applications received or completed after November 1 are considered in the regular applicant pool. These students will be notified mid-April.

Students who wish to accept a space in the fall incoming class must pay their tuition deposit by May 1. The tuition deposit is refundable until May 1. The tuition deposit deadline for spring is January 1.

Transfer:
We accept applications for the fall and spring semesters. The deadline for fall is May 1. The deadline for spring is December 1.
Readmits:
We accept applications for the fall and spring semesters.

If you left the College with a grade point average above 2.0 the deadlines for degree readmission will be May 1st for Fall semester and December 1st for Spring semester.

If you left the College with a grade point average below 2.0 the deadlines for degree readmission will be May 1st for Fall semester and November 1 for Spring semester.
