Scholarships and Travel
The department offers a number of scholarships to students
for academic support and to help cover the costs of study
abroad travel.
To be eligible for these scholarships, a student must be
a declared Art History or Historic Preservation Major and
a full-time student at the College of Charleston with a minimum
cumulative GPA of 3.00.
Merit Scholarships
SOTA Scholarships
Merit Scholarships in Art History and Historic Preservation
and Community Planning are available for outstanding majors
in our program. These scholarships are renewable up to three
years.
Albert Simons Memorial Scholarship
The Albert Simons Scholarship is given to an outstanding major
in the department. This highly prestigious award is renewable.
The Lindstedt Scholarship
The Lindstedt Scholarship in Historic Preservation and Community
Planning is awarded to a rising junior or senior who has declared
Historic Preservation and Community Planning as a major. If
awarded to a junior, it may be renewed for another year if
all requirements are met.
Travel Scholarships
Eady Scholarship
This scholarship is restricted to Art History and Historic
Preservation and Community Planning majors and provides for
travel in Europe.
Girardeau Scholarships
These awards are to be used for travel/study. Typically 3-6
students are selected for summer study abroad programs. Application
deadline is early in the Spring term and scholarships are
awarded later in the term. Funds must be used within a year,
according to the student's proposal.
