SBE SCHOLARSHIPS

GUY E. BEATTY SCHOLARSHIP

Entering Freshman Scholarship for intended School of Business and Economics Majors

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $5500.00 or greater

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED: 3 or more, dependent upon number of qualified applicants.

ELIGIBILITY: Applicant must be an incoming freshman intending to major in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Hospitality and Tourism Management, or International Business. Minimum SAT score of 1100 or ACT score of 24.  Applicant must demonstrate academic distinction and financial need.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Application will include: 500 word cover letter addressing why applicant should receive the scholarship and discussing his/her goals and objectives; the completed application form (click here) and a recommendation from the applicant’s College of Charleston Admissions counselor.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS: The applicant must intend to declare a major in the School of Business and Economics.  The scholarship must be applied toward tuition for the upcoming academic year.  During the scholarship period, the recipient must be enrolled in at least 15 semester hours per semester, completing 30 semester hours during the academic year, and maintain a GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

SELECTION PROCESS: Selection will be made by committee. Recipient of the scholarship is selected based on the eligibility criteria, strength of application which includes academic record, cover letter and recommendation.

RENEWAL CRITERIA: The scholarship is renewable for up to three years. The applicant must apply for admission to the School of Business & Economics and declare a major from the School upon completion of admission requirements. The applicant must be enrolled in at least 15 semester hours per semester, completing 30 semester hours during the academic year.  Renewal is automatic, provided the student meets the criteria.  No renewal application is required
