SBE SCHOLARSHIPS

THE STEPHANIE SHEFFIELD TRAVEL SCHOLARSHIP
School of Business and Economics Majors for Study Abroad in France

SCHOLARSHIP AMOUNT: $4,000 dependent upon funding.

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED: One dependent upon funding

ELIGIBILITY: Student must have taken 9 hours of business courses (200 level or higher and ECON courses are excluded) and 12 hours of French courses (200 level or higher). Students must have completed their sophomore year but may apply in the spring of that year for award and must have maintained a 2.5 GPA or higher.

APPLICATION PROCESS: Application will include: 500 word cover letter addressing why applicant should receive the scholarship and discussing his/her goals and objectives; a current résumé; a current degree audit; a completed application form found online on the School of Business and Economics website under “scholarship forms” and a letter of recommendation from a faculty member in the French Department and a faculty member in the School of Business and Economics. Applicants must also prepare a budget outlining their anticipated expenses (travel costs, tuition, and living expenses) while in France. In showing how he/she will meet these expenses, student must be able to demonstrate that at least 10% of his/her expected costs will be funded by themselves personally.

SCHOLARSHIP REQUIREMENTS: Students must be studying in France on a program approved by the College of Charleston faculty. Applicants must prepare a budget outlining their anticipated expenses while in France. In showing how he/she will meet these expenses, student must be able to demonstrate that at least 10% of his/her expected costs will be funded by themselves personally. Upon return recipients will submit a paper discussing an area of French business to which they were exposed as well as a journal and an actual budget of the trip.

SELECTION PROCESS: Selection will be made by committee. Recipient of the scholarship is selected based on the eligibility criteria and strength of application which includes academic record, cover letter and current résumé, letters of recommendation and budget.
