The College of Charleston Teaching Fellows Program offers to a select cohort of tomorrow's teachers the opportunity to participate in an experience that emphasizes scholastic achievement, offers personal attention and provides opportunities for leadership enhancement, service and enrichment. The program is designed to augment students' regular liberal arts class work and professional curriculum with a set of enrichment experiences (i.e. retreats, cultural events, trips, service activities and student led council) that are designed to assist in their development of interpersonal skills, leadership abilities and multicultural competency. At the same time, through multiple experiences in a variety of educational settings and participation in an on-going seminar, Teaching Fellows have opportunities to identify and articulate their sense of mission and service as teachers and to develop as professionals. The program is designed to enhance the students' college experience, not overwhelm it, as one of the goals for the South Carolina Teaching Fellows Program is for each Teaching Fellow to become an active participant and leader in all aspects of their campus community. While Fellows are encouraged to pursue their own paths, they do so in the context of a supportive community of leaders. Our program accepts up to 30 students per class, which allows us to offer a very individualized program, personal counseling and advising and the opportunity to build close relationships with faculty.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. Major initiatives support the organization's Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. The Sorority includes more than 900 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Republic of Korea. Lambda Omicron Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta, the first NPHC sorority chartered at CofC, joins more than 200,000 predominately African American, college educated women as the Sorority, founded by 22 Howard University students in January 1913, celebrates its first 100 years of Sisterhood, Scholarship and Service.

The National Panhellenic Conference exists to promote the values of and to serve as an advocate for its member groups in collaboration with those members, campuses and communities. Founded in 1902, NPC is one of the oldest and largest women’s membership organizations representing more than 4 million women at 655 college/university campuses and 4,500 local alumnae chapters in the U.S. and Canada. The College's ACM isn't just another computer club. It's a student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery, the largest and most influential technology group in the world. The ACM helps fund and advance research in many areas of technology, including the development of research skills in undergraduate colleges and universities around the world. Unlike many other academic groups on campus, this is not limited to one major. We have many members from the computer science department, as expected. We also have members from physics, engineering and mathematics, but we do not restrict membership to scientific fields. We gladly welcome those from education because we discuss the applications of technology in the classroom. We would like to have students from the arts because we enjoy discussions about the use of computers in both physical and virtual artwork. In fact, the only restriction for membership is that you must be a student at the College of Charleston with an interest in technology.

Hosts a variety of annual ABD experiences. ASBs pair extensive volunteer efforts with fun and exploration of a new location in a substance free environment. Dance Marathon is a student-run philanthropy on over 90 college campuses across the country that raises money for Children's Miracle Network. The College of Charleston's first Dance Marathon was held the night of February 9th, 2007. After just one year, Dance Marathon became the largest philanthropic event at the College of Charleston, raising over $20,000 for MUSC Children's Hospital. Last year's event was held on the night of January 18th, in which over 300 students helped raise over $43,000 for the hospital, more than doubling our previous year's total! During the 2009 edition of the Dance Marathon, students at the College raised a whopping $70,042 for the hospital. Each student participant pledges to raise $150 through various fundraising activities throughout the semester, which will lead up to the night of the event when students will stay up for 15 hours to celebrate the lives of children!

The Charleston 40 is the official student tour guide organization on the College of Charleston campus. We were formed in 1980 and have since given students and parents alike informative tours on admissions, academics, student life, and the history of this fine institution.The name Charleston 40 comes from the original number of members in the organization. The forty students were considered “the best of the best” at the College, and now we have 53 current members (notice the best of the best keeps growing!). The Chucktown Trippintones were founded in late September 2006 by six College of Charleston undergraduate students: Robert Henderson, Eleanor Hollingsworth, Patrick Melton, Kean Oudard, Bri Reitano, and Cameron Ulmer. The six came together when Patrick Melton, who was trying to start an a cappella group with Kean Oudard and Bri Reitano, talked with Cameron Ulmer, who was simultaneously working with Robert Henderson and Eleanor Hollingsworth to do the same thing. The six decided to join forces, and became the founding members and first officers of the Chucktown Trippintones. The group holds auditions every Fall Semester to fill a 14-18 voice co-ed a cappella group, with membership coming from full-time and part-time CofC graduate and undergraduate students. Since then, the group has performed at venues all over Charleston, and continues to grow in popularity. Starting in 2007, the group has attended SoJam, the Alliance for A Cappella Initiatives' annual a cappella festival in Raleigh, NC, where they have the opportunity to participate in workshops, classes, and competitions.
