Housing and Dining

Comfort, convenience and flavor in one of America’s most remarkable cities.

Live Well

Welcome to residential life, Charleston style. Don't expect the same old crowded dorms and glorified cafeterias. At the College of Charleston, we've worked hard to design an on-campus housing and dining experience that will exceed your highest expectations.

Choose to live in one of nine residence halls and 22 historic homes, all located in the heart of downtown Charleston. All of our facilities are steps away from classes, friends, the library, the gym, and the buzz of city life.

Choose from air-conditioned suites with free washers and dryers or exclusive apartments with full kitchens for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Our unique historic houses each have their own personality, attracting upperclassmen who crave a tight-knit, family-like environment and wireless Internet access.

Dedicated to the philosophy of living and learning, we've created some unique housing options like honors residence halls with weekly lectures and seminars, immersive language houses and themed communities with linked coursework and service projects.

Another option is off-campus housing, either across the street from downtown residence halls, or even at the beach.

Eat Well

Campus dining at the College of Charleston is fresh, fast and flexible. There are eight on-campus dining locations, featuring everything from all-you-care-to-eat style dining to National Brand Food Courts to meet your needs. We can satisfy any of your cravings because we have it all – right here on campus.

At the Liberty Street Fresh Food Company, you can choose from flame-grilled entrees, brick-oven pizza, vegetarian stir-fry, delicious pastas, an abundant salad bar, freshly baked breads and homemade soups. The City Bistro, located in Berry Residence Hall, is the College’s second residential dining hall and also features our reusable to-go program. This location has six new stations and also features a walk-up smoothie and pizza window.

Einstein Bros. Bagel, located in McAlister Residence Hall offers bagels, deli sandwiches, salads and fresh coffee – perfect for breakfast. The Stern Center Food Court houses Chick-fil-a, Jole Mole, Burger Studio, Boar Heads Deli and Sushi. Java City, located in Addlestone Library, offers various gourmet coffee beverages, smoothies, grab and go sandwiches and salads, and pastries. Market 159 is the on-campus convenience store located under College Lodge off of Calhoun Street. It carries snack items, candy, fresh fruit, grab and go sandwiches and salads, cleaning supplies, laundry necessities as well as an array of gluten-free and organic items.

Our newest additions are the P.O.D. Express located in the Education Building. POD offers a variety of grab and go options and it features We Proudly Serve Starbucks Coffee.  A new full service Chick-fil-A was opened in Fall 2012 in Berry Hall. This new Chick-fil-A offers Spicy Chicken, Milkeshakes and breakfast items!

Between classes, work, meetings and your social life there’s no time to prepare great food – but relax, you have options! College of Charleston Dining offers 9 different meal plans to fit any lifestyle. Meal Plans and Dining Dollars are conveniently available on your Cougar Card.
