College of Charleston Student Public Relations Group To Sponsor Fourth Annual Charleston Battle of the Bands Competition

CHARLESTON – The College of Charleston's chapter of the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) will sponsor the fourth annual Battle of the Bands competition on March 23 (8-midnight) at Music Farm on Ann Street.  All proceeds will benefit the PRSSA chapter, which offers networking and outreach opportunities, including national conference and workshop funding, to promising C of C students.

On February 20, five bands (all music genres are encouraged to enter) will be chosen as finalists for the event, and will compete for cash and donated prizes.  A number of local celebrity judges will also headline the event.  The Battle of the Bands has helped propel past winners, such as Working Title and Agynst, into two of the Lowcountry’s leading bands.

Entry forms and details about the competition can be accessed online and are also available at Fifty-Two Point Five Records on 75 Wentworth Street, or at the main office (5 College Way) of C of C’s Department of Communication.  Entry packets are due by February 20, and should be sent to:  Battle of the Bands Competition, Department of Communication, College of Charleston, 66 George Street, Charleston, SC  29424.  There is a $10 entry fee for the competition.  Please call (803) 240-1507 or (843) 953-7019 for details regarding entries and/or the event itself.

Ticket information and prices, competition finalists, and other details will be announced at a later date.

The C of C chapter of PRSSA was just honored with the Dr. F.H. Teahan Award for Chapter Development, given to the nation’s most enterprising chapter that has been in existence for three years or fewer.
