Carlock was a member of the original class admitted for the first semester of the then-new master’s degree program in August 2006. Several other members of that class are expected to graduate in April 2008. Carlock moved a semester ahead of her classmates by completing additional graduate coursework while participating in a European study tour with Department of Communication graduate faculty. “We congratulate Kelen on becoming the first graduate of our master’s program,” said Doug Ferguson, Graduate Director for the Department of Communication. “She will be a great representative of the department and program.” Dr. Amanda Ruth is Carlock’s graduate advisor at the College of Charleston. Carlock earned her bachelor’s degree at the University of Georgia. Carlock will receive her master’s hood at the College’s December 16, 2007 commencement exercises. In addition to the College of Charleston’s maroon-and-white color scheme, her master’s hood will be trimmed in silver, a traditional color recognizing degrees in communication. The Department of Communication has 19 graduate faculty members specializing in a variety of communication topics and contexts. The department offers graduate coursework in all dimensions of communication, with a special emphasis on organizational and corporate communication. A 12-hour graduate certificate in organizational and corporate communication also is offered. |
