Anne Fox graduated from Auburn University where she taught public speaking for two years as a graduate assistant. After receiving her M.A., she was hired by Auburn as a full time instructor to teach courses in public speaking and parliamentary procedure. Following that two-year stint, she studied French for three months at the Eurocentre in Neuchatel, Switzerland. She has taught here at the College since 1993.

She has worked as an actress in the theater, amateur and professional, since childhood. Because of her background in theatre as well as public speaking, her focus is the performance aspect of communication. The courses she teaches here at the College include: COMM104-Public Speaking, COMM211-Oral Interpretation, and COMM330-Advanced Oral Interpretation. In addition, Fox developed a Readers Theatre company, now called COMMSTAGE, for the Department, and has staged seven short stories in conjunction with the Department of English. In the fall, 2004, she will present "A Worn Path" by Eudora Welty as her COMMSTAGE production.

She has developed her own on woman show, "Fanny," based on the Georgia Sea Island diaries of Francis Anne Kemble. "Fanny" has been presented January, 2003, at the International Conference on Arts and Humanizes in Honolulu, at the 2003 NCA Conference, on campus for American Studies and Women's Studies, and at area churches. She plans to write grants so that this production can be performed at high schools and colleges throughout South Carolina.
