Dr. Jenifer Kopfman joined the Department of Communication in 2007.  Kopfman teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in research methods, and health communication, among other subjects.

Kopfman earned her bachelor's degree at Miami University in Ohio and her master's and doctoral degrees at Michigan State University.  Prior to her work at CDC, Kopfman worked most recently at Cleveland State University, where she served as assistant chair of the communication department.  She also has taught at the University of Arizona and the University of Toledo.

Kopfman has published articles in such journals as the Journal of Health Communication, Communication Research Reports, Health Communication, the Journal of Applied Communication Research, and Communication Studies.  She has presented over 25 papers at regional, national, and international communication conventions and has won several research awards, including the Outstanding Dissertation Award of the Speech Communication Association and the International Communication Association.
