The Conversation
The goal of the convocation is to welcome students into the liberal arts and sciences and involve them in an interactive conversation that models the intellectual engagement we value and expect from them. How you do this is entirely up to you! You can structure your discussion around a quotation, a fact, a controversy, a theory or data from your field; you can use an artifact, media, or image to begin the discussion; you can draw on themes from The College Reads! book… the choice is yours. All we ask is that it be interactive and engage all of the students in the room. Students have been told that they will participate in small group discussions with faculty as a part of convocation.
