Outside Scholarships

Outside Scholarships are private sources of scholarships offered from outside organizations. Students may wish to investigate scholarship catalogs at the College of Charleston Library or browse the 2008 Scholarship Directory, which is compiled by Congresswoman Lucille Roybal-Allard (D-CA). To find additional scholarships, it is helpful to investigate possible scholarships offered by local clubs, businesses, organizations and churches as well as the student's or parents' places of employment. The Office of Financial Assistance and Veterans Affairs does maintain a small catalog of outside scholarships that may be viewed in our lobby.

    Receiving an Outside Scholarship

Students that are receiving an outside scholarship should ensure that the scholarship check has either a student ID number or a Social Security Number in the memo line. Checks that are copayable to the student and the College will require the student's signature after they are received by the College, and so should be avoided. It is preferable to have the check or an accompanying letter address for which semester the check is intended.

Checks should be mailed to:
College of Charleston
Office of Financial Assistance and Veteran's Affairs
66 George St.
Charleston, SC 29424
