The centerpiece of the Society's education initiatives is the General Henry H. Arnold Education Grant Program which provides $2000 grants to sons, daughters, and spouses of Air Force members. Air Force ROTC Scholarships
|
|
|
|
Air Force provides full tuition scholarships for qualified students in their junior and senior year. Scholarship recipients are limited to students with superior academic records who have been previously accepted for enrollment in the Air Force ROTC programs at Charleston Southern University. Textbook fees, a $300-$400 stipend per month, and other reasonable fees are also paid. Horatio Alger Military Scholarship
|

|
|
The Horatio Alger Military Scholarship is reported to be the first national scholarship specific specifically for Afghanistan and Iraq war veterans. The Horatio Alger Association will distribute a total of $10 million in scholarships to honorably discharged American veterans who fought in Iraq and Afghanistan. To be eligible, veterans must have served in Afghanistan or Iraq in 2001 or later and must demonstrate U.S. citizenship, financial need, and the intent to pursue bachelor's degrees. The deadline for applications is April 15th. Stars and Stripes reports that the $5,000 scholarships are to be paid directly to the schools in $1,250 increments over four years. The National Military Family Association’s Joanne Holbrook Patton Military Spouse Scholarships are awarded to spouses of Uniformed Services members (active duty, National Guard and Reserve, retirees, and survivors) to obtain professional certification or to attend post secondary or graduate school. Scholarships range in amount from $500 to $1,000, and the number awarded each year varies depending on funding. Military Order of the Purple Heart

The program is administered by the National Headquarters of the Military Order of the Purple Heart (MOPH) with funding provided by the Service Foundation of the Order. To be eligible, applicants must be a child or grandchild (natural, adopted, or step-) or the spouse of a MOPH member in good standing; be a citizen of the United States; be a graduate of an accredited high school; have a capacity for advanced academic achievement or the potential for technical proficiency demonstrated by a 3.5 GPA based on a 4.0 grading system; and be enrolled in a full-time program of studies in a college or trade school. The Lucile Parrish Ward Veterans Award is available to any veteran of the Armed forces of the United States whose service in the military caused a delay in the pursuit of a music career. The amount of the award is $2000. To be eligible a student must have a high school diploma or GED, and be accepted or currently enrolled in an accredited college or university, in pursuit of an undergraduate, Masters, or Doctoral degree in the field of music. Troops to Teachers is a federally funded program to assist retired and separated members of the Armed Forces, as well as Guard and Reserve personnel with obtaining certification and employment as teachers. VA Mortgage Center.com awards three $1000 scholarships each May and November to students with eligible ROTC or military affiliation.
