South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship

The South Carolina Palmetto Fellows Scholarship is $6700 for a student's first year, and $7500 for the second, third, and fourth years.

The SC Palmetto Fellows Scholarships is an academic merit-based scholarship program awarded by the SC Commission on Higher Education.

    Freshmen Eligibility

High school seniors that have a 3.5 GPA, are in the upper 6% of their class, and scored 1200 on the SAT or 27 on the ACT or seniors that have a 4.0 GPA, regardless of class rank, and scored 1400 on the SAT or 32 on the ACT should contact their guidance counselor for nomination information. Only students that have been nominated and awarded through the Commission on Higher Education will receive Palmetto Fellows Scholarships.

The Palmetto Fellows Scholarship has two deadlines for the graduating class of 2008 to submit applications. The early awards deadline is December 14, 2007, and the final awards deadline is June 13, 2008.

    
    Continuing Student Eligibility

In order to retain the Palmetto Fellows Scholarship, you must:
  • Earn and maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale;
  • Earn and maintain a minimum of 30 credit hours during the academic year (fall, spring, and all summer terms). The 30 hours cannot include AP or High School Concurrent Courses.
Students must read the Terms and Conditions and accept the award via CougarTrail.
Palmetto Fellows recipients that are transferring from another institution to the College of Charleston need to complete a transfer form with CHE.
Palmetto Fellows recipients must be first degree seeking undergraduates. Recipients that are eligible to graduate are considered to have completed the first undergraduate degree.

A continuing student that has lost eligibility, or was not previously eligible, cannot regain eligibility.
All eligibility appeals are done through CHE. Information can be found on their appeal website.

    
    Additional Information

A student must not have any felony convictions. Second drug or alcohol convictions result in the loss of only one year of eligibility. Certain rehabilitation programs may result in regaining eligibility.
