Summer School

At the College of Charleston, summer school is associated with the prior year's financial aid; the summer of 2008 uses information from the 2007 - 2008 academic year. In order to receive aid for a summer term, a student must fill out a Summer Financial Aid Application for the College of Charleston. Due to processing time, applications must be submitted prior to June 6th.

Receiving Financial Aid for Summer 2008

The 2007 - 2008 FAFSA must be received by April 1, 2008. (For students who are currently receiving aid at the College of Charleston, the FAFSA may already be on file.) To be eligible for summer financial aid, the student must have remaining unused eligibility from the preceding academic award year. For most students, summer financial aid is in the form of student loans (if the student has not reached the maximum annual loan limit) or PLUS loans.
  1. Register for summer courses. Undergraduate students must be registered for a minimum of 6 hours* and graduate students must be registered for a minimum of 3 hours*.
  2. Complete the Summer Financial Aid Application and submit it to the OFAVA by June 6th.
  3. Check your College of Charleston Edisto email account for information about summer awards. Once awards have been made, log on to CougarTrail, select the 2007 - 2008 award year, and accept or decline summer financial aid offers.
*At least one course must be taken during Maymester, May Evening, or Summer I. Students enrolled in only Summer Evening and/or Summer II are not eligible for summer financial aid.
