Interfraternity Council
To All,
It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Interfraternity Council Homepage. The IFC at the College Of Charleston is composed of 8 nationally recognized fraternities consisting of Alpha Epsilon Pi, Kappa Alpha Order, Kappa Sigma, Pi Kappa Alpha, Pi Kappa Phi, Sigma Phi Epsilon, Sigma Chi, and Sigma Nu. The IFC is responsible for the coordination of recruitment, judiciary policy and procedure, inter-fraternity relations, and maintaining and improving fraternity relations with other Greek Councils, the College community, and the community at large.
Fraternities have existed on the College of Charleston campus since the mid-1800’s and have continued to thrive ever since. Every fraternity is held to high standards which have allowed Greek members to rise well over that of the average college student. Fraternity men currently hold a collective GPA well over that of the college-wide male GPA. Those who chose to join a fraternity will find their college years filled with opportunities for leadership, academic improvement, personal advancement, and a healthy social life. Fraternities truly add value to the college experience which is attainable nowhere else on campus.
This year we are on our second year of Open Recruitment. Recruitment this year will be a year-round process beginning almost a week after the start of school on Monday, August 27th. This will give every individual an essential amount of time to “get settled.” The IFC will hold an information session at each orientation session to inform all prospective new members of the opportunities and benefits of the fraternity experience while at the College of Charleston. Individual chapters will be holding their own events during recruitment at various locations, which may include chapter houses, local restaurants, and various other venues. The initial day of bid allocation does not by any means denote the end of Recruitment for the semester. Fraternities are encouraged to continue to bring in new members throughout the year as it adds to the strength of the individual chapters as well as the IFC as a whole.
Again, it is my pleasure to welcome you to the Interfraternity Council homepage and if you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact myself, any other member of the IFC, or the office of Greek Affairs at (843) 953-6320.
Best Wishes,
Thomas Henry, IFC President
