In the School of Humanities and Social Sciences we take great pride in our faculty of "teacher-scholars." Numerous faculty have received the Distinguished Teaching, Research, and Service Awards and the Distinguished Teacher-Scholar Award as well. Faculty in HSS are known for their dedication and productivity and for their commitment to providing special attention to our students and encouraging their development as active, engaged learners through independent study, tutorials, honors, internships, and various capstone experiences in the majors. In addition to a wide array of undergraduate programs, HSS offers graduate education programs at the masters level in: Communication, English (with The Citadel), History (with The Citadel), Public Administration (with the University of South Carolina, Columbia), the MES in Environmental Studies (with the School of Sciences and Mathematics) and Historic Preservation (with the School of the Arts and Clemson University).
